Top 3 Must Try 'Pakistani Snacks' Places :P

You must be thinking what on earth am I talking about.....What are Pakistani snacks?? :P Yeah Pakistani snacks are the food we eat while walking down the streets from small shops around. In short these are the street foods ;) I must say this is my quality I can eat everything and everywhere :P regardless of the typical mummy daddy attitude !! ;) I am a Pakistani and I Love my desi Food more than any restaurant in the world. No restaurant can compete with our taste :)

The best snacks which are my favorite too here in Faisalabad are:
1- Gol-gappas of food stall in main D ground street
2-Papri chaat of a small shop beneath Sitara mall.
3-Aalu cutlets of a small food stall near some petrol pump while coming to Faisalabad.

You may have tried these dishes from many places but i bet you have never got the true flavor . I have these dishes from many places but no place can reach the owsumness of these places :P
Gol gappas are the most favorite typical Pakistani people's dish. I don't think any Pakistani wouldn't have tasted it once in life. These foods are our basic needs like water :P :P window shopping is the habit of we friends and when we are tired of it we just sit down somewhere and start eating :P

I am having these gol gappas from 4 years and I love them. No gol gappas tasted like the ones in d ground. Th filling they put in the gol gappas is made up of mashed potatoes, channas (chick peas), onions, tomatoes and coriander and the spices I don't know what they are but they give a slightly more chilly taste . They are medium spicy and the khatta paani server with them has a taatri ( a bitter taste) like taste and it tastes so delicious combined with the gol gappas . I know they sound delicious too  ;) They serve them with two types of chatnees (sauces). The one is white colored chatni made of yogurt and spices and the other one is meethi chatni which tastes somehow sweet and sour. I have no idea what they do to the filling of gol gappas but they taste so good . There are wood benches for sitting and we enjoy gol gappas in open air with the noise of traffic :P This is a must try desi food .

The next food that is tempting to me is the paapri chaat available in a small food stall under Sitara mall beside the parking area. They have made it look like a small restaurant. Sitting area is nice and small. The waiters here are very nice having a good attitude. They have quite a reasonable menu and they offer many dishes but the one I liked the most is their paapri chaat. It tasted too good and it was added in my best snacks as I took the first bite. They mix potatoes and channas with salad in it and some spices and covered all over with the paapar (a crispy thing made of flour). They serve it with the khatta paani as served with the gol gappas and some chatnees. It is spicy somehow but the paapar lessens the spices in mouth and it tastes very nice. A must try food if you want to boost up your energy after shopping ;)

The next favorite of mine are the cutlets I eat every time coming hostel and on my way back home. My mom is a very good cook but she still can't guess the secret ingredient in these cutlets. There is a small stall near a petrol pump and I guess the person's wife make the material of these cutlets for him . I don't know what ingredients they put in the potatoes they taste so good I never have this kind of taste elsewhere .I wonder from where on earth she got this recipe. The mashed potatoes are covered with a mixture of baisan (gram flour) and fried till crispy. Puts them in pieces of paper and my whole family eats them in a desi style with hands during the journey.  I love them really they beat the taste of hi fi expensive restaurants. Eating them with my family makes them more special for me. No science can prove the taste of expensive restaurants recipes with the taste in this poor man's hands . Some things are God gifted and no one can Challenge it !!

Things are getting some serious :p but the things is you ll die of the taste of these dishes when you ll try :P I am not exaggerating :P
That is a fact , Wherever We Pakistanis will go our heart still  remains desi and that is our best quality !! Love Pakistan and Pakistani food too ;)

Take Care xxx :)

TABAQ Faisalabad....One good And One Bad Experience !

Goooooooood Morning :P

Before writing something about food I would like to mention some things. I am new to writing basically i did writing before but not this type of writing.... I can't write very well and I am aware of it but I am learning. They say "Reading improves writing" and I completely agree to it. All what I can write at this stage is what i have read before. The point is there is always a room for improvement and I hope you guys will give me a chance to improve myself  :)

Coming towards fooooood ;) Tabaq is a newly opened place in FSD . It has branches in many cities and i heard alot about it before visiting it. I first happened to go there a month ago and It was a very bad experience that i never visited it again till today. It was quite a famous restaurant and I thought It wont let me down but the first impression was not so good.

The environment and ambiance is average. They have the typical red and grey combination in their interior which looks good but not extra ordinary. Sitting arrangement is good and the place is like a puzzle where finding way is not so easy. First when you enter some waiter or the person standing there welcomes you and takes you towards your place. I was not so impressed by the looks too. It is a typical family type restaurant for elders more especially. Youngsters can't have fun eating here. The waiters here in FSD branch are so ill mannered (I can't find another appropriate word other than this). They taunt you and give insulting smiles when you order and say humiliating sentences ( that is my experience may be the one attending me was that type alone).
We ordered charga ( cuz I heard alot about its taste n other branches like in Lahore) , chicken Manchurian and chow mein with some salad, raita and naan . I personally love Chinese :P They served the food after about half an hour . The service was average too. I first tried chicken manchurian that was above average not so good . It was lacking so many things. Then I tried chow mein which were good . The taste was quite well. Then at the last I tried the most famous charga which was too bad it had no taste and it was so hard to swallow due to its dryness...I have never tasted this bad charga before in my life it was a total disappointment. That visit overall was a total waste of money and time. That was the reason I never visited tabaq till today .

One of my friend wanted to go there with us.Scared of the fist experience we just ordered masala rice and Chicken ginger which was a boneless haandi with some raita, salad and naan. This time both the dishes tasted quite good. Masala rice tasted somewhat spicy which was good and the Chicken ginger though having less taste of ginger tasted quite well.  The behavior of waiters was the same this time.  I haven't visited other branches of tabaq but it is quite famous . I can't understand why the FSD branch is not like the Lahore one. They haven't maintained that quality which is not a good thing. They ll loose their fame if they ll not try to improve this branch too.

You should visit this place but be choosy while selecting dishes to eat. Don't try charga here in fsd branch ever according to my recommendation. This place is good if you have to do a dinner with your own family or you can come here with uncles and aunties. If you have young friends don't come here. I am sure if some people from Tabaq will read my blog they will ban me from here :P but that was all about my experience. May be your experience is better than me. Do tell me if you have some experience of eating here.
Have a look at the food and get jealous :P :P

Freddy's Lahore......BEST STEAKS EVER !!

Hey budds !!

Whenever my heart wants steaks my mind always remember the taste of the steaks i had in Lahore months ago in Freddy's cafe. It is a family style restaurant located on MM Alam road Lahore with Pakistani cousine.
I loved the restaurant from the core of my heart really I loved the environment I loved the ambiance I loved the food I loved the taste and I loved the interior of restaurant.

The restaurant is surrounded by plants and greenery . There are glass walls and outside them is a beautiful green world . It seems like we are sitting in a garden full of green beautiful plants and flowers. It feels very fresh and pleasant .  The interior was out class , the plant decorations hanging on the walls , the arrangement of sitting area the lights and decorations hanging above the tables everything seems lovely. If I would be a Lahori it would definitely be my routine  to go there and sit quietly in some corner read newspaper or something :P I always feel Love sitting there.

Lets talk about the food about which my blog is and I always forget while thinking of food :P Though every food feels like same when I am hungry and I can't think critically about food with empty belly but I would atleast try :P

First of all talking of their menu it was so nice. It seems like some English newspaper and I like their concept at least it was something new.

They have every kind of food from burgers to steaks. The prices are reasonable If you want a sophisticated dining or a family dinner this place is perfect....Formal and casual at the same time.  I have tried many dishes here I love the taste but what I like the most is their steaks. The steaks are in normal prices I guess in the range of 700 to 750 Rs. Their way of serving is owsume.  They have multiple types of steaks and all are equally good. I love the freddy's special and butterfly steak.

They serve the steak in sizzler and my heart starts jumping with the mouthwatering smell at the same time :P .The steak is filled with alot of cheese and served with mashed or buttered potatoes and boiled vegetables with the steak dipped in special sauce which I don't know the name but it has a sweet and sour type taste.  I am having a mouth water attack while writing this lol but its okaay once you ll try it you ll have these kind of attacks too :P Chicken is so well cooked and having it with mashed potatoes and vegetables feels so delecious that I can't express in words. I can still feel the taste in my mouth ......slurk...... slurk....... :P :P

Overall it was the best experience of fine dining. and I would suggest If you are a steak lover this place is for you. I love their salad too but mostly this is a steak place. I haven't have steaks anywhere more delicious than here. The atmosphere and the food collectively makes Freddy's a best place to eat.

Let me handle my mouth water attack now ;) Take care .....xxx

SUBWAY.........A place for diet conscious geeks !!

This add is giving some exaggerated view of the subway sandwich Let me tell you the truth ;) Yeah...... Though quite popular in other countries SUBWAY sandwiches are not so popular in Pakistan but I find it very good when I don't want to put up weight !! It is a good option to eat more often without feeling heavy. It is not filled like this as shown in add but it still taste quite delecious. Diet concious people find it very good for filling the tummy without getting fat cuz it contains fresh vegetables and nothing fried or oil  involved in it. The sandwich is just baked and the chicken is cooked without using oil.

Other famous burgers like of Mc Donald's ,  KFC , Fry Chicks etc can't be compared with respect to taste with the subway sandwich cuz they have their own place but if you talk about the lightest burger out f all the burgers, Subway is the best option.

We visit subway's newly opened branch in FSD very often and I like it mostly cuz of its diet thingy plus i love its taste . I choose it today for my dinner . I usually buy a 6 inch sub of the day so I decided to go with it today too. The people with larger tummies can order Footlong but i can't handle it :P

It was fajita....Chose  a sesame bread got it filled with fajita chicken and extra cheese and a lot of vegetables tomatoes, cucumber, lattice, olives, pickles and jalapenos and sauces french, thousand island, chili garlic, olive oil , bar-b-q sauce and mayonnaise with a refill of coke :P It made a complete meal for me . I like the environment and ambiance of subway too it is a good place to dine in. Sub of the day deal is economical so most of the time i go for it but other ways its fajita and patty chicken are my favorite. don't try its tikka flavor it is not good. I haven't tried meats other than chicken so that's up to you if you want to try them on your own risk ;)

As a summary ( Although all my posts are so summarized and this is cuz of the reason I speak so less so I write less and comprehensive too :P That's my nature sorry can't change it :P) Subway is a very good option for dinner when you feel like having something light without calories.
Have it with your eyes and enjoy it :P ;)

Desi Breakfast !

Hey !
I am not a mummy daddy girl lol so it is obvious that i like desi food the most. And doing breakfast in D ground with naan chanas or halva puri sitting in desi environment is my favourite. So we all decided to have this desi nashta today . We always go there at between 6 and 7 am cuz having breakfast at that time has its own charm as we do breakfast in two out of 7 days of week. In week days we find no chance to have breakfast though we still get late for our lectures. that's another story :P

Anyways we marched towards D ground 7am in the morning and went to chaacha jee's place straight away. I don't remember the place's exact name but we used to call it nashtaay wali jaga lol . I ordered naan chaanas and some of my friends ordered halva puri too with a large glass of lassi. I love the way they serve the breakfast. They serve different chanaas with naan and different with halva puri and serve them with pickles, salad and a special achaari potatoes which are yummy really. The crunchy puris , sweet halwa and tasty chanaas make us feel we have lived our lives :P

Eating this desi breakfast with morning breeze always happens to be a good experience for me. Taste wise their chanaas are the best. The nashta was mouthwateringly delicious and having it with a glass of lassi made us all dizzy at that time lol. Chaacha jee was so enthusiastic to make us eat more lol He comes again and again and asked whether we need something or not this kinda environment is rare now .We got back to hostel and fell on our beds and went asleep ;) It was a lovely experience and you guys should try it too I loved it and i hope you ll too . Have a look of our breakfast I am sure your mouth would start watering too :P

This was the crispy puris with very tasty halwa and channas and I love the taste of puri chanas and halva in my mouth combined :P

This were naan channaas . These channas have a slight different taste than of channas with puri but they were so yummy ahh.... i can still feel the taste of them with onions .....;)

This was the great lassi glass and after having it all in our stomachs we were like in heavens lol :P

And we were like this after breakfast ;)

LOL

Hope you enjoyed....Take care xxx
